What Do You Expect?

What is it that you expect to find inside your mind?

Taste It

I can taste it

Flower

How you feel you can pick it like a flower / There are times when things will get dire / And there are times when you must fight fire with fire / For every mood there’s a day and there’s an hour / And how you feel you can pick it like a flower / She says that it is not a storm / It is just energy that’s changing form / But if in the night that thunder makes you cower / How you feel you can pick it like a flower

Hurricane Girl

If I can find that hurricane girl floating on the air / If I can find that hurricane girl with her hurricane hair / If I can find that hurricane girl I’d settle in the eye / If I can find that hurricane girl I’ll watch the world whirl by / Polka dot wings and spiderweb strings are lacing up her boot / and set to chance the direction of ants amongst the sprouts and shoots / And the wind blows spore by the dozen and the score until they fill the sky / and the wind blows seed so the locust can feed once their wings are dry / But if I can find that hurricane girl floating on the air / If I can find that hurricane girl with her hurricane hair / If I can find that hurricane girl I’ll settle in the eye / If I can find that hurricane girl I’d watch the world whirl by

Catherine Wheel

There’s a place behind my face that breaks down brick and steel / It breaks a cross or brazen ox and bust a Catherine wheel / If by prayer or boatman fare I wash up on the shore / And while I’m there I won’t care to know you anymore / Factory fresh all packed and pressed on a production line / It does suggest what we ingest is rotting on the vine / They do say we come from clay and clay is where we end / It’s in deep space we find a trace of something that can ascend / If you assault with catapult you may just make a dent / But I’m told that wall will hold long after you’re spent / She kicks and bites but her best fight on the fire she threw / If you want to win then look within and burn it out of you

Old Gods

And there’s hungry flies on the icon’s eyes today / And we make face paint from the ash from saints for play / And the stained glass lips bear the crucifix like a brand / And there were hidden holes where stigmata flowed from the hand / Resurrect the old gods / And Venus sings of how Cupid’s wings never tire / And Apollo swings as he plucks the strings of his lyre / And Seth’s hands wring at the offering we lay / He’ll keep sandstorms and locust swarms at bay / Resurrect the old gods

We All Bleed

Let’s all clap our hands / Lets all stomp our feet / Let’s jump in the air / Let’s scream oh my god / Let’s all clap our hands / and count down a lifespan / Lets all stomp our feet / In time to a heartbeat / Let’s generate heat / and sway like fields of wheat / Let’s all play our trump / while our blood still pumps / Cause we all bleed

Forever and Amen

He came and went and never did much more than what was in the script / He came and went and never left much more than what was in the crypt / They didn’t get him in one hit they got to him bit by bit / He capitulated sip by sip then evaporated drip by drip / She was full of promises I promise not to let it out / When she began to grow on me I promised not to let it sprout / Let’s find forever where we can / Let’s find forever, forever and amen / Never knew a salesman who would buy what he sells to me / Never knew words that did more than cast a spell on me / I never knew a movie scene that felt like real life to me / We get a sentiment an actor gets a salary / Money buys and we all try not to lust the glint of it / We all buy it in the end but do we all buy into it / Let’s find forever where we can / Let’s find forever, forever and amen

Maypole

Remember in the crowd how she said to you for you to hold on tight / Well you held on tight with all your might / But there’s a time to let it go / and now’s a time to let it go / Some things would pass me by, some things would catch my eye / And I would try and try / to make them my ally / What I thought I’d possessed, I’d only caressed / And as for the rest it got locked in a chest / But there’s a time to let it go / and now’s a time to let it go / And a time to let it go is a time to let it in and not a time to care where or who you’ve been / And a time to let it go is a time for within for a stream to flow and a clown to grin / And I time to let it go is a time to begin for something more than just something / Don’t let the record show / just let the record spin cause a time to let it go is a time to let it in / What do we really own / When we all let it go / and we all let it go
